Liberal leader Zak Kirkup and Liberal candidate for Landsdale Brett Raponi have announced a $1 million commitment to the Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed for the construction of a new facility at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex.
“The Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed is an important meeting place where men from all backgrounds can socialise and support each other while contributing to the local community through projects such as making wooden toys for childcare centres and restoring furniture for the needy,” Liberal leader Zak Kirkup said.
“With membership now at capacity in their current sub-leased shed, the Liberals are proud to support the Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed with funding to build their own facility on land granted to them by the City of Wanneroo.”
Liberal candidate for Landsdale Brett Raponi said the facility would include a much needed larger and more modern shed at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex, which would further add to the amenity of the area.
“A new facility will allow the Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed to significantly expand their operations and pilot a new program with Afghan refugees,” Mr Raponi said.
“The Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed is a terrific example of how we can connect our community and support each other through the spirit of mateship.
“The members contribute to community projects and look out for each other’s individual wellbeing, which is a terrific outcome for everyone involved.
“I look forward to seeing the project proceed with our support and returning to the new Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed in the future to catch up on progress with the wonderful members.”
