WA Liberal leader Zak Kirkup joined Shadow Minister for Road Safety and Member for Hillarys Peter Katsambanis today to announce a $1 million commitment to improving the safety of a dangerous intersection in Padbury.
The investment into the intersection of Marmion Avenue and Forrest Road will include the addition of dedicated turning lanes and a seagull island to provide safer conditions for drivers and pedestrians.
“As a local resident, Peter has experienced the safety issues at this intersection first-hand and listened to the concerns of the community, who want to see it improved,” Mr Kirkup said.
“This is another part of the Liberals’ plan for a safer WA that will keep you safe from COVID-19, safe in your job and safe in your home and community.”
Mr Katsambanis said visibility at the intersection while entering Marmion Avenue was a significant concern.
“It is a dangerous intersection for road users that should be made safer, especially with a childcare centre and a football club and cricket club on either corner,” he said.
“The City of Joondalup has identified this as a dangerous intersection and has applied for black spot funding.
“I am committed to improving the safety of our community and its local roads so that we can all enjoy a safer, smarter today and a better, brighter tomorrow.”
