Firstly, I want to thank all our frontline health workers and volunteers for the amazing work they have done keeping Western Australia safe.
As a volunteer ambulance officer, I have an appreciation of their tireless commitment and dedication to the community.
Today we are here at Fiona Stanley Hospital where once again ambulance gridlock is in the spotlight.
In January last year, ambulance gridlock at Fiona Stanley Hospital was a record 341 hours.
The scary thing is that we are only halfway through January now and it has already reached 569 hours.
What this shows is that while the Premier has been fully occupied on the pandemic, Labor have mismanaged Western Australia’s health system.
Ambulance gridlock is at crisis levels and Labor refuse to do anything to fix it.
In Western Australia there has been four consecutive record months of ambulance gridlock and we are on track for a fifth.
It is unacceptable that the number of ambulances stuck outside WA hospitals continues to increase every month.
Under Labor, the WA health system is broken. Labor have a $3.7 billion surplus but still won’t dip into their election war chest and give our hard-working frontline health workers the resources they deserve to keep West Australians safe.
