A re-elected Morrison Government will invest $2.5 million in a new all-ages state-of-the-art park for families in Ballajura.
Liberal Candidate for Cowan, Vince Connelly, hosted a community gathering of families, school P&C members and sporting groups at the Townsend Street site to announce the funding commitment, which will provide families in the area with a modern, all-ages park and recreational area.
“A playground like this has been on the City of Swan’s agenda for some time, but despite community support and advanced plans, the council has been unable to source the additional funding required for the $4.6m project,” Mr Connelly said.
“The City of Swan has been very clear that this is a priority project for the Ballajura community. With five schools in the area, Ballajura is one of the most family-friendly suburbs in Cowan.
“While Ballajura has a number of small parks, families have told me they are looking for an exciting and immersive playground where they can take kids of all ages.”
With extensive community consultation already having occurred through the City of Swan, some of the exciting plans for the currently unused space include:
• Ninja assault course
• Nature play area
• Hurricane swing set
The plans also include open space for events such as pop-up markets or outdoor cinema evenings to invigorate the space and create additional opportunities for families to gather.
“This exciting project is an example of the community-driven outcomes I plan to deliver if elected as the local MP for Cowan,” Mr Connelly.
Only the Morrison Government will continue to deliver a better future for Cowan, and this is part of our plan to build a strong economy and a stronger future.
