Shadow Minister for Police and Justice Peter Katsambanis has slammed the Labor Government for failing to protect Western Australia’s seniors.
“Under Labor we’ve had four years of failures when it comes to crime, especially involving older West Australians,” Mr Katsambanis said.
“We’ve seen the execution of a bikie at a public event in front of families and kids, out-of-control parties, public brawls and seniors bashed in their homes.
“In December we announced our plan for 1200 more police officers, which included a $20 million CCTV for Seniors Fund for CCTV and other electronic security devices to bolster home security.
“We are glad Labor are following our lead, but they are the government. They could be rolling these things out now, and with violent crime at record highs that’s exactly what they should be doing, not waiting for the result of an election.
“Our seniors feel less safe than ever before in their homes, with a genuine fear that they may become the next victim of a violent crime.
“Labor have no new ideas and no plan for the future.”
