Zak Kirkup and the Liberals have committed $20 million to support the Town of East Fremantle’s vision to redevelop the East Fremantle Oval precinct into an integrated community, sport and leisure hub.
“A Liberal government will support the Town of East Fremantle’s plan to deliver a sustainable community precinct that will provide exciting new leisure, sport, and community facilities for everyone to enjoy,” Liberal leader Zak Kirkup said.
“This is a great community initiative that supports the Liberals’ vision to create a better, brighter tomorrow for all Western Australians.”
Shadow Minister for Sport & Recreation Peter Collier said the Town of East Fremantle had identified the redevelopment as a priority project that would contribute significant economic and social benefits to the community.
“It is an exciting project that will serve more than 7,000 people in the Town of East Fremantle, while also providing facilities for approximately65,000 people across the broader region,” Mr Collier said.
“Sport and recreation facilities are so important to the vibrancy and well being of the local community and the club members and participants that will utilise the precinct.
“It is very exciting that this project will replace the ageing facilities that currently exist with the upgraded, modern facilities that local residents, club and community members deserve to pursue a healthy and active lifestyle.”
The new Integrated Community, Sport and Leisure Precinct on the East Fremantle Oval site will incorporate the following components:
- East Fremantle Football Club facilities
- East Fremantle Bowls Club facilities
- East Fremantle Croquet Club Facilities
- Playgroup and Child Nursing facilities
- Neighbourhood Link Commonwealth Home Support Program (TOEF) facilities

The scope of works also includes complimentary commercial facilities that will provide services to the local community while ensuring the long term financial self-sustainability of the precinct.
